ICU: Intensive Care Unit

ICU refers to the Intensive Care Unit. It is a special department within hospitals that provide medications for intensive care as well as life support for patients who are suffering from an injury or illness. Intensive care units look after the patients with the most severe and life-threatening injuries or illness that require constantand closely monitored by a team of specialized nurses and doctors. The team is well-trained in caring for seriously injured or sick patients. Patients can be transferred directly in ICU after being discharged from an urgent department if required. This procedure is generally done when the patient's condition gets worse over time.
